A successful candidate should:
Have a minimum skill level - and be willing to learn
We want to accept players and singers of all skill levels, but unfortunately we must implement a minimum skill threshold for everyone involved in the show, regardless of prior stage experience. Regretfully, we do not have enough resources to support complete beginners at this time. However, if you can stay in time, learn individually, and sing in tune, then we'd love to hear from you!
Nobody is expecting you to be perfect right away though, and we value those who are committed to furthering their craft, and who are open to receiving feedback and critiques!
Be a nice person
Homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, racism, arrogance and general rudeness are strictly not tolerated. We reserve the right to reject anyone we see displaying any of these traits.
An ideal candidate should be willing to work with others, and accepting of people with different skill levels. Our community is made up of people from all stages of their musical journeys - some with years (sometimes decades) of experience and others who are just starting out. We love people who are able to both give and receive feedback well, and who are willing to learn from others with an open mind - that's what makes great musicians!
Be over 18 years of age
We can be mentors, but we're definitely not babysitters! We are not currently in a position to work with minors, and it is unlikely that this will change.
Have an open schedule
We understand that everyone has busy lives, obligations, work and studies. However, due to the nature of the production, it does mean that you may need to have a flexible schedule in order to rehearse with your fellow members. We tend to rehearse during evenings and on weekends. We also have two mandatory tech rehearsals where we will be running the entire show, and all performers are required to attend. We don't mind if you're busy, but the production team will need to take your schedule into account when assigning roles.
Have access to their instruments
We rely on you to be able to organise your own individual self-practice outside of group rehearsals, so please make sure you have access to your instruments and are able to practice in your own time.
Be a team player
It's not about any one person getting the spotlight. When you lift up your fellow members, everyone shines together, and the audience will have a great time. We're looking for friendly, open-minded people with great teamwork skills.
Will you support your nakama?
